Kick-Off Workshop Vienna
The Physical Violence Group met for a first workshop in Vienna to discuss relevant theoretical texts to the project and to set a framework for the following year. Texts included: Spierenburg, Pieter: Violence: Reflections About a Word, in: Body-Gendrot, Sophie / Spierenburg, Pieter (eds.): Violence in Europe. Historical and Contemporary Perspectives, New York 2008 and Randall Collins “The Micro-sociology of Violent Confrontations, in: Collins, Randall: Violence. A Micro-sociological Theory, Princeton Oxford 2008.”
In the second half of the meeting the PhD candidates presented their projects combined with related selected texts.
